Post Layout (Global Post Type)

The Post Layout setting allows you to choose a single layout style that will be applied to all posts across your website.

This is a global setting and affects every post page.

You can configure this from:

Ghost Admin → Design → Customize → Post Layout

Available layout options:

  • Default

  • Full width image

  • Image overlay

  • Table of contents

  • Split view

  • No image post

How It Works

When you select a layout style:

  • The chosen layout is applied to all post pages

  • No per-post configuration is required

  • The design remains consistent across your website

Changing the layout will automatically update the appearance of all existing and future posts.

Available Layout Styles

1️⃣ Default

Standard blog layout with featured image above the content and normal content width.

Best for general blogs and news websites.

2️⃣ Full Width Image

Displays the featured image across the full width of the screen for a more immersive visual experience.

Best for photography, travel, and visual storytelling.

3️⃣ Image Overlay

Displays the post title and metadata over the featured image for a modern hero-style presentation.

Best for feature stories and editorial content.

4️⃣ Table of Contents

Automatically generates a table of contents based on post headings (H2, H3).

Best for long-form articles, tutorials, and guides.

5️⃣ Split View

Displays featured image and content in a split-screen layout (side-by-side on desktop).

Best for design-focused blogs and case studies.

6️⃣ No Image Post

Removes the featured image and focuses entirely on text content.

Best for minimal blogs, essays, and text-heavy articles.
